At the atelier we wash, sort, and blend them with 100 grams of ethical wool, spin the yarn, and weave your scarf.

The Lunma collection kit holds a box, a fine comb, and simple instructions, along with a prepaid return label. The comb helps lift loose strands during quiet moments together. Everything you need to gather around 80 grams at home is included; nothing further needs buying, and the return postage is already covered.

You collect Lunma's strands at home using the kit's comb, over several unhurried sessions across a few weeks. Gather only the loose strands your companion is ready to leave behind, never anything pulled or cut. Around 80 grams is the target, roughly a small bagful; the instructions show how to store them clean and dry until the box is full.

If you cannot reach 80 grams, Lunma can still proceed; the blend is flexible and the atelier adjusts the wool ratio to suit what you gather. Send whatever you have collected and we will advise before spinning. Smaller quantities may mean a shorter scarf or a slightly higher proportion of ethical wool, which we confirm with you first.

Cat strands work well for a Lunma scarf. Their fine, soft fibre blends with wool. Thorough multi-stage washing at the atelier greatly reduces the Fel d 1 allergen carried on the strands, though we do not market the finished scarf as hypoallergenic. The coarser guard coat can be included in smaller amounts but is less suited to a scarf worn against the skin. Each Lunma scarf carries the natural colour of one companion's strands, left undyed, so no two pieces are alike. The tone comes entirely from their own fibre blended with ethical wool, whether cream, grey, russet, or black. Because the strands, the blend, and the hand-weaving are never repeated, your scarf is singular by nature rather than by design.

Lunma offers three scarf editions, all priced in Canadian dollars: Essential at $450 CAD, Signature at $600 CAD, and Heirloom at $850 CAD. Every edition blends around 80 grams of a companion's strands with 100 grams of ethical wool and includes the fibre passport. Signature and Heirloom add longer drape, hand-rolled edges, a certificate, and a ceremonial box.

A Lunma scarf takes its colour entirely from your companion's undyed strands, so the finished tone can vary from what you pictured. This variation is the point; the atelier can describe the likely range with you before weaving begins.

A Lunma commission spans two phases: your at-home collection, which takes a few weeks depending on your companion, and the atelier's work of washing, spinning, and weaving. Collection time varies most, since every companion leaves strands at their own pace. Once the full box returns, most commissions finish within a season.

Care for a Lunma scarf by airing rather than washing, and store it flat, away from direct light. Never machine wash or tumble dry, as heat and agitation can felt the wool-and-strand blend. For an occasional refresh, a brief airing outdoors is enough. Should it ever need more, the atelier can clean and revive it for you.

Because every commission is recorded in its fibre passport, we can match the original blend to mend a snag, re-finish an edge, or restore the drape over time. Send it back when needed and we will assess the piece before any work begins.
